Changes For 2009 Season For The Vento

Thanks Guys!!! It is def coming along nice now that I started grinding all the stuff and start the smoothing process. I know you will still see some of the harness but this is a fast, budget, mild shaved bay, so I really did not want to go crazy with it. Hopefully it will turn out ok. I going to try and get out in the garage tonight to take my motor apart and start prepping that for paint and porting of the new intake/exhaust setup. Later all

Well never got out to the garage that night, But I did tonight and welded pretty much all the small holes in the frame rail and started to grind them smooth. Here are a couple pics.

yeah I know the bigger ones wont be to bad but the huge ones in the fenders I might just leave I am running out of time and really do not want the car down to much so I am going to have to make a decision on that. I think the bay will still look good even if I keep the holes in the fenders but I am still on the fence with that one.

2/28/2009

Ok so I got out there today and Finally finished the welding!!!! I filled all the bigger holes with 16 gauge steel. I have decided to leave the fender holes there due to time and I really do not feel like dealing with it for this year. Maybe next year I will do more.

But here are some pics of it.

3/5/2009.

Got outside last night for a couple of hours and grinded down all the welds flat. I am now ready to apply the fillers and start smoothing and sanding. I will update with some more pictures when I get them.

Mike came over and told me to take it down to bare metal. So I did just that. NOW I am ready to sculpt the bay!!!!








I am off of work tommorow so I am going to try and get some more done.

Ok so I finished sanding on the first coat and am awaiting the ok from Mike to go to the second coat. So I decided to grab my AEG Upper and Lower Intake Manifold and port/polish it to get that out of the way.

Also got my CSR Water Fill Neck. This replace's the coolant expansion tank. Very nice!!!

3/24/2009:

Well after getting set back by having to fix the jeep, I got out to the garage and added the second coat of filler on!!!

I have some more sanding to do on the driver side then it is time for the 3rd and final coat hopefully!!! Then on to the putty,prime, & paint!!! I still have to sand the passenger side but so far I am happy with how it is coming out.

Got the second coat all sanded down to where I like it. It is going to need a 3rd coat in some area's then I will move onto the putty.

Passenger side almost ready for primer!!!!!



Getting ready to wrap the A,B,C pillars in Red Suede. See the real vento smooth B pillars. Nice!!!

So Mike had a idea to take some metal out of the raintray and mold the shock tower to the raintray to make it look like one piece. It came out real nice and is very different.

Then Mike and Aaron flipped a dam quarter and ofcoarse I lost the coin toss and made me pull my engine harness threw the firewall and hide it better. So yesterday I drilled some holes and found a easy spot to run the wires and most of the harness will stay in the rain tray hidden from view.

Here is where most of the engine harness comes threw from the inside of the car.



Here is where the Harness that plugs into the motor and tranny enters the engine bay by the heater hoses. (yes they will be wrapped and not noticeable when I am done with them.



Then last but certanly not least the acual engine bay itself. Thanks to Mike and Aaron the other night the engine bay is almost totally ready for primer and paint!!!! It is looking freaking awesome..

Well Mike came over today and it is painted and cleared and the bay is offcially done!!!! Not bad for 2 1/2 months of work so far.
